Lore - Iwatodai: Iwatodai: An old riverside town in the northern Kanto plain, divided into two by the river cutting through the town directly. Most of the people that commute to work from Iwatodai commute to the Mishima Economic District, about an hour or so away by train. Holidaymakers visit Iwatodai for its festivals from time to time, such as the Great Dream-Colored Festival held near the end of the summer, but most of the year, Iwatodai is generally very quiet. It is one of the very few areas where Kaijin activity has been seldom documented; as such, locals have very little idea of what Kaijin are, though they might have heard about them from more urban areas. Locations: Yadomi Memorial High: One of the high schools in Iwatodai, named after a particular citizen of Iwatodai. By far the largest one in Iwatodai, a large majority of Iwatodai's youths attend Yadomi High; the rest either attend one of the smaller ones, or attend Our Lady of Hermelin or Amamiya High in the Mishima District an hour away. Yumeiro Bridge: The largest, and most well-known, of the seven bridges that connect both halves of Iwatodai, the bridge is one of the oldest parts of Iwatodai dating from its oldest days. The bridge's name comes from the distinctive colors of its facade; according to legend, the bridge was created by the resident god of Iwatodai itself from whatever he could find on the banks of the river, in order to allow the two halves of the town to reunite after being separated by its sudden appearance. A tourist attraction, the Yumeiro Bridge retains its distinctive multi-coloured facade through extensive maintenance. Mishima Park: Formerly the Iwatodai Park, the Mishima Corporation took over the maintenance of the park three years ago. Mishima Park is one of the major green spaces in the town, alongside the Friendship Gardens, and a popular place to hang out for both families and local teenagers. The park is well known as a filming location for many TV dramas due to being a picturesque location; in later years, the park will be used as the filming location for the climactic scene of the hit drama Tomorrow with You. Festival Square: A large public square where the festivals that Iwatodai is known for are held, especially the Great Dream-Colored Festival. The square was the site of the original Iwatodai Shrine until roughly 300 years ago, when the shrine was moved to its current location, with many older buildings remaining in the area. It is now primarily used for public functions, although on days when the square is not in use, it will be home to a smaller market. - Great Dream-Colored Festival: A festival to celebrate the resident god of Iwatodai, traditionally held near the end of the summer. According to legend, the god of Iwatodai had great power over dreams, and would help the residents by granting them dreams at the end of the summer, dreams of things to come to help them prepare. The Great Dream-Colored Festival is presided over by the monks of the local shrine, though nowadays it is more a general celebration rather than intended to commemorate a god, and hosts a variety of things, such as local food and performers. It traditionally ends with a fireworks display that can be seen and is traditionally viewed from the Yumeiro Bridge. Iwatodai Market: The local market, selling a variety of local crafts and stuff. The local branch of July is also located nearby. Iwatodai Shrine: The local shrine, with a local family given the responsibility and position of taking care of the shrine and entertaining guests. The shrine was built for the resident god of Iwatodai, whose name has now faded into the mists of history; however, his legends remain, such as the origin of the Yumeiro Bridge and the Festival. The Shrine nowadays is primarily used an attraction, as a center of community spirit and as a source of money for local students who work part-time in the area. Friendship Gardens: The other large green space in Iwatodai, the Gardens are a popular hangout area for students from nearby Yadomi High, and is home to a particularly large tree under which, local folklore suggests, if a confession is made to the one somebody loves, it is sure to be accepted. It is known for its flower gardens. "Your Old Base": An old shed in the middle of the woods by the river, stocked with furniture and beds for the occasional times you all slept in the woods. It was once your "base" for adventures, before that fateful day two years ago.
